Preparations for the 15th Kocaeli Book Fair: "Kocaeli's Writers Fair" has begun!

The event, titled "Kocaeli Writers Fair," was organized in collaboration with the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, the People's Tribune Association, and the Kocaeli City Council. The fair, which will run from September 9-14, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily in front of İzmit Industrial Vocational High School, will feature dozens of local writers holding book signings.

The fair's opening ceremony was held with strong attendance from officials and citizens. The ceremony was attended by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Berna Abiş, Deputy Governor Aslan Avşarbey, People's Tribune Association President Ramazan Sevinç, and Kocaeli City Council President Kadir Çetin.

Opening remarks emphasized contributions to Kocaeli's cultural life. Ramazan Sevinç, President of the People's Tribune Association, thanked the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and civil society organizations for their contributions to the project. Kocaeli City Council President Kadir Çetin stated that the event was organized as part of the Local Support Program (YEDEP), implemented with the support of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın.

Kocaeli, City of Culture , Acting Mayor Berna Abiş stated that the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has made it its mission to bring literary and cultural riches to every corner of the city. "This event is being held so that the voices of our local writers can be heard more widely and their works can reach a wider audience," Abiş said, emphasizing that a city's future is built not only by its roads but also by its culture, art, and books. Deputy Governor Aslan Avşarbey stated that Kocaeli, formerly known as an industrial city, is now also known for its culture, art, and literature, and that such events enhance the city's brand value.

Following the opening ceremony, which ended with a group photo with the writers, it was also announced that talks would be held at the Art Cafe in Milli İrade Square every evening between 19:30 and 22:30 throughout the fair.
